Dear Chicken Dinner Attendee,
The Republican Club of Northeast Baltimore County
held its 17th Annual Chicken Dinner on Thursday, May 29, 2008. The
event was our largest ever and was a tremendous success. Over 230
people were in attendance to hear from our honored guest speaker
Senator Andy Harris and our honored master of ceremony Governor
Bob Ehrlich.
I would like to thank the many elected officials
in attendance from both Baltimore County and Harford County. The
elected officials included: Delegate J.B. Jennings and Delegate
Rick Impallaria from District 7, Delegate Joe Boteler from District
8, Delegate Susan McComas from District 35B, Delegate Bill Frank
from District 42, and Chief of Staff Bryan Shuy representing State
Senator Nancy Jacobs from District 34. There were several Baltimore
County Republican Central Committee members present, including Chairman
Chris Cavey, Joan Wood, Herman “Woody” Wood, David Marks,
Mike Pappas, J.D. Urbach, and Jim Berndt. The Harford County Republican
Central Committee was represented by Carol MacCubbin and Steve Wright.
Carroll County Republican Central Committee member Don Hoffman was
in attendance as well as Baltimore City Republican Central Committee
member Rev. Frankie Powell. Todd Huff, Candidate for Baltimore County
Council District 3, was also present. There were many former elected
officials in attendance who deserve recognition including John Cluster,
Jim Ports, Al Redmer, and Ken Holt.
During the event, the club presented Mike Pappas
with the Ports/Redmer Award for Service to the Republican Party.
The renamed Bob Ehrlich Volunteer of the Year Award went to Kathi
Smero. The recipients are well deserving of recognition for their
never ending work for our club, party, and elected officials. Please
give them the congratulations they deserve and thank them for their
tireless efforts.
This year’s Chicken Dinner was most unique
in that we had corporate sponsors for the first time. I would like
to personally thank Cannella’s Italian Deli, Red Brick Station,
Raffy’s, Bayou Café, Egerton Greenhouses, Richardson
Farms, Aldo’s, LCK Interiors, and Joe Fabiszak, P.A., CPA.
The event would not have been as successful without their support.
Dee and Paul Maltese of Falcon Caterers deserve
a thank you as well for another job well done. I would like to thank
Laura Kimball for chairing the Chicken Dinner and doing a great
job with the items that were donated and raffled off. J.B. Jennings,
Ryan Nawrocki, and Joe Fabiszak deserve a special round of thanks
for their diligent efforts to make sure the dinner was a sold out
event.
As I have said in the past, the Republican Club
of Northeast Baltimore County is the model for Republican clubs
across our state. We again proved that you can have a great Republican
event without charging an arm and a leg to do it.
This year has a lot of excitement brewing with
the election of Andy Harris for Congress and John McCain for President.
I would again like to encourage all Republicans to participate in
these campaigns; they are our foundation to build upon and move
forward in Maryland. Please continue to check our Club’s new
web site at www.rcnebc.com for campaign updates and information
about upcoming events. With your help, we will continue to strengthen
the Republican Party in Northeast Baltimore County.
Sincerely,

David Nawrocki
President, Republican Club of Northeast Baltimore County
